Back home again!

Good news, I have picked up Kathleen and she is home again out of the hospital!  Not day parole, but full discharge. Just waiting for her fancy new lazyboy chair to come so that she can rest in comfort.
I am more optimistic about managing symptoms this time around.  Unlike last time, we have IV forms of pretty well everything.  For pain, she has a patch that seems to work well which she wore around in the hospital for a few days to make sure it agreed with her.  I know how to hang her IV bags of food and gravol, so should the vomiting start, we have a way to deal with that.  And I know how to flush and clean her PICC line as well.  She is up to about 1000 calories per day, almost enough to be off the TPN feed, but not quite yet.  Soon, stomach willing.

About In the Cancer Bubble

I am Kathleen's partner of almost 25yrs supporting her through this very tough and rough spot.

    Hi Mike and Kathleen,
    Welcome home!
I am not sure if this replaces sending you an email to the other sentex address Kathleen, let me know.

Keith told me he had a very nice visit with you which sounded so positive to me. He said you were tackling a grilled cheese sandwich and that you both were able to walk in the grounds which seeme like a huge improvement.

We are getting excited about our new place, we get the keys either tomorrow or Friday, can’t wait to get in there and measure for furniture etc.
Phoenix had his first birthday on May 6th and almost immediatly started to sleep overnight. Both Rhonda and Chris think they have died and gone to heaven.

I look forward to seeing you in August, by then all the readiation and chemo should be behind you and you can start to get really better.
    Warmest wishes,

Hey, that’s great news! I’m so glad to hear you are getting up there on the calorie count. And home. With a lazyboy to come! Yay! And Mike, thank you so much for doing the blog – great idea.
